Vintage Vs New...Why Buy Vintage?
We generally refer to a vintage guitar as one made prior to 1980 as at about that time many manufacturers changed from hand-made to mass production techniques. So why not buy a hand made guitar?
- Vintage guitars have already been loved, played each one has its own story, some have been played on-stage or others lovingly stored in their original case under the bed for 20 years. .
- Some of the woods used prior to 1980 are so rare these days and are almost extinct. They gave the classic sound and feel to each guitar
- Why are there so many many manufacturers making relics and re-issues these days (some of which are exceptional) using "60's parts"? Don't you want the original components?
- A new guitar will depreciate in value ...a vintage guitar will generally appreciate in value or at least hold its value
- A vintage guitar has that lived in look. Yea sure they may have some slight wear and tear, a bit of buckle rash and the odd ding. But that's the cool part.
Never before in history has the buyer had so many options..
